I really enjoyed Professor Lee up until the last lecture, I was 0.1% away from going to an A- to an A and he refused to bump me up even after I met with him one on one and offered to redo assignment or do extra assignments. He said he can regrade my assignment if i feel it wasnt graded fairly BUT could result in a lower grade. Not understanding.
Caring and motivated prof. I admit he marks hard but it is only to make your writing better for post-undergrad when you decide to go to grad school. Gives a lot of helpful advice. Very accessible after class. Throughout the sem, I got the same letter B grade until the end I achieved an A by putting more effort in from his criteria.
A decent prof and the course itself is interesting. The lectures were always short, which might appeal to some but seems like a wasted opportunity to really dive deep into the content. He is also a really tough grader (and I'm a 4th year student), with marks often not aligning with the feedback received. He is very accessible by email though.
Damien is a great professor who is passionate about Indigenous issues and it was a pleasure to learn from him via remote learning. While many SOC prof's slacked on providing quality learning content, he had prerecorded lectures for our course which was very helpful. Overall great prof.
Took two courses with Damien. IMO his courses tend to be the most interesting with great class discussion. Can be a tough marker, but if you make the effort to ask what he is looking for, he will provide help. Teaches with clear goal of students knowing more about topic by end of semester. His essays will definitely help develop your writing skills
Professor Lee was great. He does do weekly assignments in class which counted for our participation. His lectures were interesting, but he grades pretty hard. I thought I would receive an A+ for the paper, as I went to him many times for extra help and guidance, and I received a C+.
