Chill prof, recorded lectures, textbook and slides to learn and review. He gives reminders before tests and assignments so you don't miss anything. Course content was interesting and manageable. Highly recommend this as an elective if you have a tough schedule already.
The workload for this course was reasonable and manageable. However, the teaching method primarily involved the lecturer playing pre-recorded videos for each lecture. This approach felt somewhat low-effort and made the learning experience less engaging.
Prof. Rafiee does a good job of making the content digestible. You're graded on homework, 2 tests and a research report, all of which are simple if you study. NO late assignments were my only critique. Some math is involved in this class as well. Easy marker. Overall, Prof. Rafiee does a fine job of making this class enjoyable and worth the time.
This was a really great course to take over the summer semester. I'm glad I enrolled in this class because the professor was really passionate about what he teaches, understanding, and straightforward with what he expects. There are weekly quizzes, discussion posts and one research report (20%). Just stay on top of your work and you'll do great!
I'm actually quite surprised that he doesn't have a high rating because he really deserves it. If you want a light course this is the one for you (with this prof)! The weekly quizzes are easy, the discussion posts (only like 4) are also easy. He is easily approachable though email. There is a report that is worth 20%, but its not that hard.
He seems passionate about his work and is easy to access outside of class, he is organized and gives reminders for assignments/quizzes. His zoom classes are just him playing old lecture videos, his midterms are pretty difficult and application based. If he is giving such hard midterms he should at least give us some practice questions.
Lectures involved joining a zoom call and playing a prerecorded lecture from 2 years ago. He would post these videos on D2L, so attendance wasn't mandatory. 20% paper of 1200-1500 words on some topic I think he changes every semester. I got an A+ on it but that was because he was an easy marker. Lots of things I could have done better on it.
The weekly quizzes are very easy, as well as the midterm and exam. I'd say the only part of this course that requires some effort is the essay. Overall he's an amazing professor and I'd definitely take him again.
Surprised by the low score. I really enjoyed and grateful I chose this course as my summer liberal credit, not too demanding at all. Weekly quizzes were average difficulty, paper was very concise and to the point which was fun & refreshing to work with but also not take up too much time. Online Final was easy.
Not very responsive to questions. His weekly lectures were about 2-4 hours long and not very engaging. The weekly quizzes were alright, they weren't too difficult.
