Prof is a knowledgable guy but it's clear he has other priorities. Takes long to grade things. For example, there is no way to know how to improve your memo writing if he doesn't give feedback before the next one is due. Also never responded to one of my peers emails before the midterm. Don't take this class if you don't have to.
I'm a 4th year bus student, this is the worst class I've taken at TMU – basically overcomplicates a bunch of elementary concepts. Prof is great though.. enthusiastic, smart guy. You need to pay attention in class because you must do things exactly the way he likes, otherwise you will lose marks, even if you clearly understand the concepts.
Prof Garrett is a very smart professor and I really enjoyed his class. He talks about the stuff that you wouldn't research yourself and made you more aware of the world around you. Class was mandatory but the excercises were not hard. No final exam and lots of writing (no homework) but if you like that stuff you should be good.
Takes forever to return grades from the beginning of the semester, never responds to emails, throws jabs at the "immaturity" of students while talking about his experience, and teaches the material in a very unorthodox way. He's very intelligent but not built to be a professor, as his priorities are elsewhere all the time.
Prof. MacSweeney is one of the few professors I've had the pleasure of learning from, who actually enjoys his lectures. He believes and takes pride in what he teaches, which result in better learning for students. Absolute gem, fair on grades, projects, and assignments. Would love to take his classes again in the future.
He has a lot going on outside class and takes forever to respond to emails, often weeks unresponsive and 8+ weeks to return grades. Course was changed to be 100% in-class with little explanation beforehand. Expectations are high, grading is disproportionately tough for the guidelines, and lectures are sidetracked by personal or world stories.
Lectures are boring and make sure you attend class for the mandatory in-class quiz. Memos are a pain make sure you are familiar with course content before going into the memo
Good professor, stay on top of the classwork and attend the lectures
Attendance is mandatory, as there are in-class quizzes & assignments, and the slides won't make sense on their own. He posts a lot of practice work (application based), and it's similar to the midterm & final, but prep for open ended/short answer questions accordingly. His lectures are interesting and he's a cool guy
Hes a sweet guy and seems like he wants his students to pass in trying to make the class engaging but honestly the content just makes the class so boring. Hes a soild option for a bus221 prof but hes still pretty boring. The in person quizes are mandatory and are password protected. Which i find super unnecessary. Exams are v easy tho.
