multiple iterations, heavy work load but I can promise YOU WILL LEARN A LOT FROM HIM. 100% recommended. Best professor in the program. I would take his studio course again if it's possible.
gives great feedback. be ready to show process every studio session.
Only thing I didn't like was time management. For IRN projects it's important to be conscious of deadline approaching but while we should be wrapping up on projects and move on to next things, he gave feedbacks on details and eventually stayed up all night until the final presentation day to finish things up. The quality was impacted as well.
Shai gives so much work and his classes are long but he spends so much time giving feedback and will stay after class to discuss your work. Very heavy workload but very beneficial.
I love shai he is my favourite professor yet. He gives great feedback on your process work. As long as you bring new work and show up to class every week you will do great. He focuses on the craft of the models a lot. Shai slays.
He's a very interesting prof... ASK FOR LOTS OF FEEDBACK. Any time you get the chance ask for his opinion. Come to class with something to show him even if he doesn't ask. His assignment outlines make 0 sense so if you don't understand something ASK. Email him. Show up to class he cares a lot about engagement. Show him final project pics too.
Shai was a very good professor, he was definitely hard but he pushed you to do your very best. I thought he was a very reasonable marker. It is clear that he does care about his students success and gives you great suggestions to improve your work.
Overall, Shai is a fair prof. He is very vague with the instructions for assignments and will tell you the honest truth about what he thinks about your work, it can be harsh. He gives good feedback and if you listen to what he suggests and incorporate it into your work the way he wants (even if its not what you want) you will be successful.
I really enjoyed IRD with Shai. He's actually really nice and it just takes time to adjust to his class. When he gives you feedback, you might take it hard, but I don't think he's all too bad! Just make sure to organize your time properly so you can bring adequate work for feedback!!! Time management is key with IRD.
Great professor, obvious that he is very well educated and is passionate about his work, but he is very rude. Unclear on his explanations for project briefs and his lectures. You will have to produce work based on what he likes instead of what you want, even though it meets the criteria of the brief.
