Dr. James was one of the best professors I ever had in my whole time at TMU so far. She is incredibly knowledgable and brings her lived experienced into this course. The course itself is content heavy with many assignments/ 2 exams. Take this course with Dr. James if possible, it's 100% worth taking if you want to work with child, youth or in CAS!
Julie was great and very helpful. Attendance was mandatory
If you want to avoid classes thats required for you to participate and engage with class discussions then def dont take this prof. Expect lots of readings, turning on your camera, weekly discussions, favouritism, mandatory to show up to class and unorganized course outline. Ive had her for two years and the ta was always a hard marker.
Dr. Julie James is nice and her teaching is good. The problem I have with her though is regarding her lack of care. I had emailed this professor countless times this semester regarding her film choices (which were extremely offensive) and many times she does not take the initiative to pronounce my name right despite correcting her many times.
the sweet prof I've ever had! she genuinely cares about her students and wants us all to do well. Discussions posts are most of our mark and are each week which you need to be in class to be able to answer. TA is fair but hard marker, gives really helpful feedback. Be prepared for lots of group work and sharing in front of class.
If you have the opportunity make sure you can take her class! Shes amazing
Julie James is one of the best CYC professors and is so kind + sweet. I looked forward to coming to class each week and was accommodating for all situations. Material is quite easy to understand while doing the readings and attending classes, if you don't make the effort to do so you can still get a B. Definitely a great overall professor! :)
Professor James is a gem. She is very caring, accomodating and responds to emails quickly. The course is a bit content-heavy (multiple readings, videos, podcasts per week), but very interesting so no complaints there. Overall, I would recommend her and this course 100%
Very sweet! Easy A, tbh. It was actually a very interesting class with great topics. There are small assignments, quizzes, and discussions posts that are not that difficult. Material does get a bit repetitive but overall, interesting and easy!
