Prof Guignard is amazing. She ensures everyones opinion is heard. But one thing is that the slides arent helpful. You do have to work for this course. 30% of it is take home online quizzes which is really easy. You also have 5% bonus for attendance, 35% for essay. She allows a cheat sheet during the exam and its easier than expected.
Great lecturer and does the most to make sure her students succeed in the course. She is very clear with the grading criteria and tells you exactly what is on the quizzes and the exam. with effort, you can definitely ace this course.
Probably one of the easiest courses I'll ever take in university. Lots of opportunity for extra credit.
She is the most caring and respectful professor ever. I have never seen a professor going to great lengths to make sure her students do well. The quizzes are often open-book and there are bonus attendance points. If you put a decent amount of effort in the lectures then you will do well. She will help you if you ask so don't be hesitant to do so.
Ended up with an A, but had to work hard for it. The contents are interesting, but the course is reading-heavy (one full textbook chapter per week + 3-4 documentaries on crazy topics during semester). She is respectful of all perspectives and extremely knowledgeable. Visiting her office hours was helpful for the essay (got A-); approachable.
For an elective, this class is quite heavy. It's a lot of readings, videos and notes. That being said, she is a kind prof and there to help. Attendance is bonus not mandatory (if you sign the sheet the 10 times she randomly hands it out, you get 5% added to your ENTIRE grade). The exam is all MC and much easier than expected.
Very interesting course contents with many examples from around the world, but tons of readings and not so easy. Lots of videos (some disturbing ones) shown in class and 5 documentaries to watch outside of class. Quizzes are OK if you attend class, take-home. She lectures passionately about these topics, but will not force her owwn opinions on you.
Dropped the class halfway through because of how much work there was and how ineffective her slides were. Stay away.
One of the BEST courses I've ever taken at Ryerson with one of the BEST professors. I learned so much in this course and wish I could take more courses with her. Dr. Guignard is very knowledgable. The content is so interesting. Definitely worth it and I would recommend it to everyone!
