A professor that genuinely cares about the well-being of her students

Feedback is weak. Gives very vague guidance and provides templates but then marks you down regardless of how closely you follow them. Not interested in teaching, the course is a series of unrelated assignments where you have very little opportunity to actually use most of the feedback provided. GPA killer.

Overall one of the better professors I've had for an asynchronous online course. Looking at other reviews, I didn't feel the feedback was non-existent, moreso direct. There are no rubrics, so you need to look everywhere to find clarity. The course is paper heavy and require more effort than other online courses. I found the marking to be fair.

She is an awfully hard marker and at the same time fails to provide the clear criteria necessary for a good mark. Like others have said, receiving grades above 80-85 is a rarity and would make you one of the lucky ones. I really wish I had read her reviews as this course, although easy, will likely not help in boosting your average a lot.

She marks unnecessarily hard and has an outdated view of careers/ the workplace. She gives barely any instruction for the assignments and will take off marks for the smallest things. Do not recommend.

Doesn't provide any quality feedback at all so it is nearly impossible to know what to improve for the next assignment. No matter the quality of your work you will end up with the same grade. Even when you try to email her she won't answer your question and just point you back to assignment outline. Sorry if she's the prof for a mandatory class.

such a hard marker, u could put all the effort in the world and she wouldn't give u above 75%. pls avoid her if u can. she critiques everything but her own instructions are super vague and poorly written. I'm not sure how she's managed to become a prof and grade like this. this course was a waste of my life. 50% final assignment is insane lol

Honestly, I’m a 4th year student and this is the EASIEST course I have taken through out my 4 years yet this professor marks the hardest. I’d like to believe it’s because with easy work, professors like to mark harder to make it seem like their work actually means something. Avoid at ALL costs. She is HORRIBLE.

A very subpar effort at teaching, Kathryn Voltan fails to provide fair feedback when employing marks to her student's hard work. While providing assignments that meet given requirements, Kathryn refuses to give marks where they are due. Which contributes to the rarity of a mark above 80%. A very pompous professor.

This professor is unnecessarily stingy and critical to the point that her grading comes off as bitter. I have a well-formulated resume and cover letter that has been developed with the help of a professional and has landed me multiple jobs within my field, but for her class, I had to restructure both of these documents to fit her outdated standards
