Terry is one of the only profs I've had that seemed to care about his students, He loves to engage with students in conversation so be prepared for a lively discussion. He has strong opinions, but was always willing to listen to other viewpoints and discuss them further. Oh, and not sure if this is important to you, but I LEARNED!!!!!! A++
If you are someone with a disability I would not recommend Professor Roswell. He was very reluctant to allow me to access my AAS Accommodations and implied that I would not contribute equally to my upcoming group project due to my request for them. I still put all my effort in and aced the class but that type of ableism was not okay in my book.
Terry is one of the most charismatic professors I have ever had. He feeds off of the energy of the class and likes to call upon people, so keep that in mind, he promotes a really supportive environment though. Exams are easy, all the course work was straight forward. He is super passionate about what he teaches and cares about his students.
First thing to know, there's no textbook and while that's great for you pocket, there's still a lot to read. Every week you're assigned 2 articles to read, each 20 pages. It's a lot and I didn't read them all but you should because his powerpoints are few and empty. Lucky for me, the pandemic hit and he felt bad for us...
Terry is one of the best professors I've had. Although some of the readings are pretty long, it helps to read the articles. He is very engaging in his classes as he addresses his students as "my friend". Pretty easy course with only two papers and two exams,
Went in to his class quite intimidating, however; he got me out of my comfort zone and made me engage in class. Normally this would make me upset, but he talked to you like a friend and not a student. If you show up regularly, he will know your name and is the best professor I have had to date. Strongly recommend him as a professor!
I came in thinking I'd learn something but I've learnt barely anything. Too vague on assignments and expectations. Makes slides and then retracts them. Doesn't give fair marks. Doesn't care about students. Would NEVER recommend this class unless you're looking for a GPA drop. The most unsettling class I've ever taken in my life.
To me he was kind of non-approachable? The environment and atmosphere he put out was not my favourite as it felt like he was picking on people sometimes. He seems really knowledgeable and he really wants class engagement so definitely speak up cus he loves it. Assignments seem easy but are super vague, ask him for help on those if you need it.
I took his class on theories of crime at Laurier. Theory can be dry, however, Terry made sure every class was a learning experience and would ask questions that would make us think to get our brains turning. By far the best prof I have ever had, he made it easy and fun to listen to his lectures.
The reason you endure through the post-secondary institution is to have the chance to catch an ounce of insight. Terrys lectures are riddled with crucial life lessons which will influence, inspire and instil aspirations of growth and success in a future full of service and intellectual growth. Do yourself a favour, seek out his courses.
