Extremely condescending in her feedback. Gives vague instructions and doesn't understand why some students do poorly. Honestly takes the joy out of writing for anything...
Professor Cowan was a great prof to start the semester off with. She kept the labs engaging and tried to separate the groups as evenly as possible. While having to work with the same group all semester became a little tiring, she made the class enjoyable. Make sure to proof read work, she will mark off for every grammatical mistake!
zoom class was hard online, keep ur camera on if you want her to like u
PROS: - Lectures were interesting. CONS: - Labs were not good. - Unclear expectations for assignments. - Prof was mean spirited and disparaging on Zoom.
passive aggressive and rude. took the joy out of writing for me, not worth taking
Genuinely one of the worst courses I've taken. She is an extremely tough grader while giving the most unhelpful feedback. Homework is entirely group projects. I can say with confidence I did not learn anything in this course.
I really like Jennifer. She has a razor-sharp wit and a sarcastic streak which bothers some people, but she is kind and she will often share photos of her dog. She is extremely knowledgeable about the industry and has real writers' room experience. No one is more qualified to teach this class than Jennifer.
I understand that Ryerson's online transition is stressful for everyone. However, during class, Jennifer would make rude/passive-aggressive remarks toward the class, including toward a mature student, which did not sit well with me. If you don't treat students with respect, they will not feel motivated or feel comfortable reaching out for support.
Jennifer is very nice and passionate about the media industry. Overall she was good at teaching the material and made the class as interesting as she could. The only problem I had was that she gave vague instructions for assignments and would only tell us what she wanted after we got our marks back.
