He is a great professor and very unique, it is important to know that he expects active participation in class. However, if you do so and also attend the opportunities that he provides for you, you can gain a lot of knowledge and experience that may be useful for your future career.
Bardeesy has been one of my fav professors at TMU. I would highly recommend taking SSH505 with him. Be prepared to participate in class (seriously), put in the effort and you'll do well. Assignments and evaluations were not hard but be ready to not get any of your marks back until the end of the semester...that was the only negative part.
This class is all about discussion regarding politics, policies and current news. I did not know my marks until after exams and the TAs gave no feedback on the assignments/quizzes. I felt lost until the end. Come to his office hours to make sure you get bonus marks. Attendance is not mandatory but to succeed in this class you need to be engaged.
Interesting lectures. The class is a little disorganized but I would recommend taking it. Assignments are not too difficult either.
I have never written a review before but I had to this time. This was my last semester and let me tell you I am graduating from university with an amazing experience, all thanks to this prof. Him interacting with every student and making our classes so interesting was amazing. I could go on and on, he changed my perspective about life and school!
Definitely a lot to read and can be disorganized. Depends on the ta you have who can make the class easier. My ta was Julie and she definitely helped us out a lot on keeping the instructions clear. Fairly easy as long as you have time to do the work.
The course was such a breeze i didn't even notice it for most of the semester. I chose essay for final assessment which I felt wasn't marked that easy, but the other assessments were way easier. make sure you get 100s in the beginning so you don't have to worry about the essay that much. Didn't learn much but at least got a good mark.
Karim's class was super eye opening but show up to your tutorial. I found myself confused but my tutorials were helpful to clear up any confusion. Don't try to skip because each lecture is usually a new conversation with a chance to openly talk.
Best Class I took in my undergrad
Karim is a true hero! The class is unique and nothing like any of other Ryerson class offered. He cares for his students and is always trying to provide a chance for you to speak up and do cool activities. It is not just an easy class but a rewarding one that teaches you lessons beyond the readings.
