I liked her as a prof. shes super passionate and offers extensions often as long as its a general ask. her lectures are a bit heavy bc she kind of reads of screen for most of it, but shes super smart and has a lot to offer her students. she understands students well which i appreciated a lot, tough marker tough and i genuinely tried for this class
She's a tough marker but she's a very welcoming professor who explains the concepts well! If you're really interested in communications she's a great professor to take it with, just make sure to apply her feedback. There are a ton of different things she grades in this class that can be used to boost your mark which is good
I found that Rebecca's assignments were clear and concise, you always know the expectations. However, the TA's did mark harder on the assignments than they should have. If you put in the work, you can finish with a decent grade. The class itself is boring and repetitive like most CMN courses.
Prof Halliday is a kind person and a good lecturer but it is impossible to do well in her class! The grading is unreasonably tough. I have never done so poorly in a class, even after putting in the most effort. In one assignment, my feedback was positive and glowing, with only one minor suggestion I still only got low 70s. I don't suggest taking.
She's a good prof and good at giving lectures. However, it seems impossible to do well in her class and I just don't understand why she marks so hard. I've taken many courses where there was lot's of writing and I always did well, but you literally cannot meet her expectations with written assignment. Very demotivating, i wouldn't recommend.
kind of conflicted because Halliday is super caring and frequently checks in on the mental health of her students. However, this course is subpar. She didn't really know the material which made the lectures and assignments more difficult. The marking wasn't consistent and could range by 20% from weekly assignment to assignment.
Rebecca Halliday is a caring person and she will check in frequently on your mental health and your life. However, I would not recommend CMN325. It isn't Rebecca that is the problem, it's the course structure. It is very paper-heavy and tons of reading. Tread lightly.
She grades kinda hard but I started applying her feedback on future assignments and started getting better grades. Shes really caring and makes herself accessible outside of class. There are quite a few things you are graded on so you have the chance to do better.
Dr. Halliday is an amazing prof who really cares about her students and gives good feedback. The course content isn't exciting but she tries her best to make it engaging. She's very forgiving, marks pretty easy, and gives bonus marks for submitting group feedback.
I enjoyed this class with rebecca. I found her lectures engaging and that her TAs were fair markers as well. You can tell she wants her students to do well. The only thing i regret is purchasing the expensive textbook that i did not use once that she said was mandatory to pass. Other than that i enjoyed the class overall
