In terms of breaking down the very abstract content into understandable chunks to process, he is amazing. He really goes deep into anything and wants people to question, if not full-on criticize, the readings and the class discussions were great for learning. I will say he is a tough marker, but he is more than willing to explain things afterward.
I loved PHL449. Luke is an amazing instructor and cares a lot about the success of his students. The course content is interesting and he made class extremely fun and interactive. He is extremely passionate about his work and you can see it in the way he teaches. 10/10 would take class with his again.
As other reviews said he takes the time to fully explain everything and posts a weekly recap document that summarizes the topic of that week. He seems so genuine and really tries to make the class fun and lighthearted. From my understanding he also works a 9-5 and still puts this much effort into teaching! Really great guy :)
He pre-recorded the lectures so there were no actual lectures to attend. He does mark fairly hard but the lectures were fun. Every week he would also change his background screen so that was fun. Overall, a great guy!
Love this prof! Didn't do so well on his paper BUT, unlike some professors, he actually points out exactly (well for me at least ) the flaws in your argument, the lack of structure, etc. and actually giving good constructive criticism going forward. Very articulate prof who chooses his words carefully and overall very engaging!
Great prof who makes the readings really clear.
Took this class on a whim and fell in love with it. He is an amazing prof. Probably the best one I have ever had at Rye yet. He makes lectures almost ridiculously easy to understand and transforms usually boring topics into something that made it hard to want to miss class.
