He's such a nice prof though the class content is super tough. Group project boosts your marks greatly. He also curved the midterm and final
He took over the second half of my AFA 819 class. In doing so he did a great job of boosting marks and helping students out. Main complaint would be he stuck to the teachers old marking schema but all in all not a bad professor. Lectures a little boring but very lighthearted and easygoing. Glad he took over.
I feel bad seeing the low ratings. He is extremely kind and is genuinely passionate about ethics. The problem is I don't think any student cares about this field in accounting so its very hard to be invested in his class. Does not help that he is sometimes disorganized during lectures. He is a fair marker so its not hard to do well in this class.
Lectures are boring, that's why he makes these in-class assignments worth 20%. Prof deducts marks on tests literally for everything he thinks that isn't good enough. Very subjective marking and not in favour of students. Unfortunately there is no other alternative for this class so good luck.
Scatterbrained. Would start off talking about Point A, move to Point B, then Point C, and never go back to finish the previous points. His lecture slides are almost as messy as his lectures. The midterm and exam was content heavy but open book so manageable if you did the readings and slides beforehand.
Oh lord is AFA 511 a boring and useless course. But Prof. Schneider is a nice guy - he gives good marks on the group project and in-class assignments. Class is content-heavy. Midterm was fine bc he curved it but felt like didn't get enough time to fully answer the questions. But what r u gonna do, it's an easy course, gotta make it hard somehow.
Told us to aim for a 60 at the beginning of the midterm...
He gives 2 hours to do 14 short answer questions on the exam verses giving us half an hour to do 1 short answer in class. Timing is unfair and he can't tell you the grading criteria beforehand. Lectures are very scattered, would rather read the slides than go to class but the slides have 50 random concepts with very little explanation.
As long as you show up to class, take notes and participate, you will do well. It is very content heavy, so you have to keep up with weekly lectures, readings, and notes, but if you do all of that, you should be done. Leaving to the last minute is a very bad idea. Found his exams reasonable, but specific.
Honestly Thomas is a very disorganized prof but at the same time he gives a lot of free marks . The final and midterm were not too bad and the assignments were easy marks. He is not a tough grader in my opinion. For studying use his power points.
