My second class with Asmaa, who is very knowledgeable about the crises journalism/journalists presently face. Lectures are easy to absorb and offer room for student inquiries. She is very approachable. Lots of readings every week to support each lecture, which are not mandatory. Take at least one class with Asmaa because she was awesome!
This class was the worst class I've ever taken, I cannot wait for it to be done. Asmaa is too hard on students. She's a very hands on prof so If you like getting things proof read she's great for that but if you need space to get your work done good luck. Theres an in-person mid-term about class discussions so you have to go to class.
I enjoyed NNS419 with Asmaa. I took this course as an open elective and she tried her best to make it fun. She chose great readings and videos to pair with her lectures and her grading was fair. She emails a breakdown of your assignment mark and shows you where marks were taken off. Asmaa was super understanding and always taught with a smile.
Asmaa is a very knowledgable prof and she really cares about what she teaches. The readings are pretty heavy and I think there needs to be more consistency across lab sections, but the lectures themselves are pretty interesting and the guest speakers were always great.
Asmaa is a very sweet and caring prof who is accessible outside of class and will answer any questions you may have. Her lectures, however, are quite haphazard and often go on tangents. The guest speakers are insightful. Lecture participation isn't graded, so you don't need to show up. Don't be afraid to ask questions to clarify expectations.
Asmaa is very kind and personable. Her lectures *can* be skipped, but you'll need info from the weekly guest speakers every class for assignments. She is accessible and kind outside of class and is willing to accommodate the class if needed. Readings are heavy, so learn to pick and choose which ones to read. Assignments are pretty easy and quick.
Way too many course readings. The readings are incredibly repetitive. You were graded on whether or not you attended and participated in you tutorial sections. Lectures are pretty good. The reflection essays and media analyses projects are confusing as it's unclear what she's looking for out of them.
Asmaa is so caring, genuine and knowledge. She always lets students speak and compliments their point. She always enter class with a huge smile. If you actually put effort into your work, even if you procrastinated, you will do really well. She is accommodating and will give extensions if you are in a tough spot. The late penalty was very fair.
BORING CLASS!! So many readings about concepts that will often make you fall asleep. This course is manatory for JRN students which is too bad but do not recommend as an elective. Asmaa is a sweet woman but this course ain't it.
She's really knowledgeable but the way the course material is presented is just horrible. She assigns wayyyy too many readings and it's very tedious. The material is not engaging at all, and it feels like a useless course that you are forced to take because it's mandatory.
