I'm Vietnamese so the Grammar and sentence structure are easy for me to learn but for people who are born English-speakers is very hard to follow her lecture. Everyone sitting in her class look exactly walking death, no one understands anything =)))))))))))))))))))) I got an A because I have my tutor, not because of her.
omg idk about her upper class but her CHN101 class was awful! She has bad attitude, unhelpful and tough grading????????????? The intro to Chinese is not intro, it's advanced!! Think before choosing this class.
She waited until the last minute to update all the grades of the tests that we did months ago, which didn't allow you to go over the test with her. I don't know her grade system; you won't get a grade higher than 80.
Prof Wang made good pre-recorded lectures for online class and was easy to follow. She's a tough marker and you probably won't get anything above 80 for anything. No clear grading criteria for the essay and cultural group presentation. The essay and cultural presentation deadlines were way too close to each other as well.
Wang Laoshi is a nice professor however, she is a tough grader and did not explain what the mistakes is all about. Avoid her!
Lost my motivation to learn. Despite being an introductory course, it doesn't feel like she takes that into consideration. Her lectures are quick, and she barely provides any time for you to ask questions or even process the content before she begins quizzing you. Will give assignments due the same day as tests, and talks a lot about culture.
She does not give clear instructions and gives late feedbacks so you don't know if you are doing something correctly. When marking, she takes off huge chunks of mark on tiny mistakes. Tough for no reason, especially for introductory course. It definitely discouraged me from learning Chinese. I will not be taking Chinese course anymore.
Currently taking her course online, and it has been kind of ridiculous. Assignment instructions are unclear (and she takes marks off for things that she didn't ask for in the instructions). Marks really hard and docks marks for random things (-20% off for not spacing characters the way she wants). AVOID!
She really tries to explain the logic and reasoning of the chinese language but it was had following the syllabus as the schedule kept changing. If you participate and do your homework, it's an easy A but beware of pop quizzes and assignments. A solid choice.
Extremely knowledgeable, helpful and easy going personality, I am glad that I had her as my prof for this class.
