Marc is a great professor and explains the material clearly. Midterm 1 was very manageable, while Midterm 2 and the final exam required more preparation and deeper understanding. Overall, the course was well organized and a positive learning experience.
He was really good, his lectures explained everything really well but you should go in person because he fills in stuff during lecture and being there make it easier to understand the drawings and whatnot. he is really clear on what gets tested, provides practice questions, and i found that the exams were fair except for the final.
Great professor. Organic chemistry is challenging but manageable with practice. The lab portion was easy. Midterm 2 and the final were challenging but fair. Paying attention in lectures and doing the recommended textbook questions makes an A or A+ achievable.
a fair teacher with a fun personality! the first midterm was a breeze since it was just highschool review, but second midterm - final is where it gets tricky because its more of memorizing 20 different reactions with not a lot of understanding. i didn't find the extra textbook questions he posted helpful as they didn't reflect the test questions.
Marc Adler(MJA)great prof and he actually teaches like he cares. his testing is so fair, if u did and cover the lecture your fine. There is no tricks in his testing and even for multiple choice there is just 1 correct answer and obvious. like he says a lot in his lectures his testing is just to prove what you've learn. I definitely take MJA again
Amazing prof, explains pretty well, very caring. Labs imo were a lot better that CHY113. If you take this course, please pay attention to introduction to reaction mechanisms. Mostly everything after midterm hinges off your understanding of basic reactions. I struggled to understand the basics and my final grade reflected it.
really personable and nice guy. he was so good in the first few weeks, really explaining everything, but after the 1st midterm, it all went down. stopped going into detail about a lot of things you NEED to know. memorize all reactions and practice all q's he posts like crazy to do well. final was okay. labs were actually fun!
Really good prof, but the nature of this course will demand a lot of time and energy and that's just the truth of it. No matter how good the prof is u lowkey have to put in the time to understand. I work 4 days a week so i miss an hour a week of this class. But it's possible to do well, attend the slgs, do textbook and start early :)
The best professor (and human). Organic chemistry is very hard, but his passion for helping his students motivates you to truly do your best.. and not just in his class, but in any of your passions.
Let make mayonaise and mustard gas in class, study the course in the summer before hand for an easier time
