She was really respectful and a good lecturer. Make sure to focus in classes and do all the readings. The midterm and final will include small details that only the readings have. She engages with the class and explains things quite well if you don't understand. Pay attention when she plays documentaries since those are also on the tests.
Slides don't help, so it's just constant talking for 3 hours. Sped through a "lecture" due to having to go somewhere after the class. Tons of readings. Assignments and tests are reading heavy so I don't see the purpose of her lectures since her slides barely cover the readings. Course is basically self-taught. Enjoy!
I really enjoyed her course structure and teaching, not about memorization but actual understanding. Her assignments and tests are fair and I found them to be quite helpful. She seems to really care about her students.
Professor Pasternak was amazing. I am so grateful that I got to take one of her courses before I graduate. Her course materials were inspirational and she is so knowledgeable. She is one of the leading scholars in this field and brings really cool guest speakers. Despite her busy schedule she gives thorough and detailed feedback for your work.
Awful professor. 1/5 is generous. She presents her own work and it has the writing errors that she harps over when students commit them. CRM 400 was much better but CRM 335 was a total mess. A living marking contradiction. Ex. she said never use subheadings but after the marks came back she told multiple students that we should have used them???
Do yourself a favour and avoid this mess of a prof. She is all over the place and is a living contradiction. She gives you advice and when you use it she says it's wrong. She has no knowledge on how to run a course despite being seasoned. Everything is left to your own interpretation and hoping it's the one she comes up with on the fly. Good luck.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Panic attacks throughout the semester with how disorganized she is. A kindergartener is more organized than Pasternak. It's a wonder she made it past highschool. Marking is all over the place and is hard to reach over email. Endlessly long readings and most of them are pointless yet required.
Absolute atrocious professor. Constantly contradicts herself with feedback. Don't take her feedback she will mark it wrong!Much better CRM courses to take and Pasternak is not one you want. Lectures barely contribute to the course itself. Her marking system is basically a lottery system. One of the worst experiences I had with CRM.Avoid if possible
Im not sure what is inducing people to leave Dr. Pasternak poor reviews. She is fantastic in so many ways. I've taken her twice. She is super kind, very reasonable, and GENUINELY CARES about what her students have to say. I wish i could take her again after i graduate :( i highly recommend you take her!!
I really wish I could drop this course. She questions why attendance dwindles....IT'S HER. She must have had some mental breakdown because she is not how she used to be and I second the more recent reviews. Looks like the most miserable person in the room every class. Avoid Pasternak if possible. Hopefully the faculty finds a better professor.
