Lots of reading. She grades very difficult, almost as if she's expecting you to be an expert in the field instead of a student learning. Course material is very easy but there is a lot of extra readings. I got a good grade but I still think my grade should've been higher but she's a tough grader.
Expectations were extremely high and not always clearly communicated. Grading was very tough.
dont recommend. never went to lectures because she yaps. Exams are online though
teaching style is just overall not engaging and annoying to follow along with—snarky comments, not enough info aside from provided slideshows. Also very disorganized and seemingly just not fully prepared; my TA complained about the last minute or big tasks the prof was making her do when it was excessive and shouldnt have been her job to begin w
Beware Karen Naidoo 🥀
You learn everything from the textbook and tutorials. The TAs are lifesavers. It's supposed to be a really easy class, and the coursework wasn't bad. The issue was that in her lectures, you end up learning more about her than about sociology. If you're taking soc105, do NOT choose this prof
she was alright .. i mean i liked her personality but she makes snarky comments constantly and made issues bigger than it should've been .... her class just felt like a waste of my time .
Constantly reminding everyone she's from the Jane, stopped going to her lectures bc of her snarky comments that I couldn't be bothered to hear. Yea she is condescending but who cares, as long as you don't go into one of her classes expecting an amazing prof, you'll be fine. Course work wasn't too heavy.
Karen is engaging and funny, and her lectures were generally enjoyable. She talks a lot and goes on tangents, which can be frustrating when you want clear info about exams. She usually ties stories back to content. Grading was done by a TA and felt harsh and unclear. Wouldn't take again.
She does mention Jane n Finch a lot, and we did watch Peppa Pig in class... Anyways, attend the labs as they are ahead of the actual lectures and provide the notes already. Midterm was online (Multiple Choice) and so was the Final (Short answer questions).
