Professor Melissa was one of the best professors I had in undergrad, even though I'm not an INT major. She made the course clear and was always responsive to questions. Her detailed feedback really helped me improve, especially on essays. Definitely take her class.
Okay, why does she treat this class like it's some high-tech English course? It's not that difficult, and she's out here giving 70s for what? For a course this easy, she's a bit too into it. It's a conflict resolution class, for crying out loud, everyone has their own ways, and she's just too by the book. Don't recommend.
Let's start by saying Melissa is a great professor. She gives great feedback and genuinely cares about students doing well in the course. BUT the group projects were actually so draining. They are not difficult whatsoever, but having to do very collaborative work online was actually the most draining experience of my 4 years of undergrad.
Very good prof, grades fairly, keeps students engaged. Easy asynchronous course, definitely recommend as an elective. Although if you are not a fan of weekly discussion posts and group projects, maybe not.
She is extremely involved with what she is teaching and doesn't mark unfairly. She interacts with students in a way that makes you feel respected and appreciated. She is super down to earth over email and she is also understanding should you need some extra support from her. She is an optimistic professor who also wants students to do their best
Overall, the prof for this course is great, flexible, understandable with giving extensions and her modules for this course are so well-organized and easy to understand. However, there is one component in this that kind of irked me & others which is the group project. It's not even hard tbh, what IS actually is having to deal with your team members
I enjoyed this course a lot but found the group project to be the most challenging bit. I personally don't love working in groups so this is likely why. I found some group members were keen to get a good grade and others didn't care as much which was frustrating. Overall, a good course to take in the summer for an elective!
Melissa is extremely caring and accommodating. You can tell she really cares about her students and her content is genuinely interesting. I would take this class just for her, amazing prof!
(asynchronous class) my first class with melissa, she's really sweet, cares about the course content, and taught us valuable material. two essays and one big group project that comprises most of the mark. i found that she marked tougher on the essays. provides SUPER EASY quizzes on the readings. overall, good experience.
This was an asynchronous class but Melissa did a great job at making with making the class feel interactive. Everything learned was interesting and will be helpful in the future. Beware, there is a group project that accounts for a large chunk of your grade, and you are given your group members. But overall, the class is a pretty easy A + enjoyable
