Vince Hui

Clearly genuinely cares about his students, in both their academic success and personal well-being. He was available at insane hours to help with Structures or studio work and gives thoughtful tips/advice. Could be considered a harsh grader but just because he doesn't compromise on the standards of the class; grading will never be unfair.

Don't take him if you want to be told you're good at everything. Soo much to learn! Treats us like upper years, but needs to understand we just left HS. Builds up your confidence if you're willing to learn. Breaks you down if you think you're better than others. Some guys made fun of my work, Vince roasted them when they presented.

He puts more effort into his students and the program than anyone in DAS knows. He has standards & expects us to be follow. Best prof at DAS - anyone saying otherwise dunno what they missed or got a bad grade. TBH he got rid of cheaters and students who didn't want to be here so he could spend more time helping the rest of the class.

Vince was awful. He favoured several students and belittled the rest. He acts like he is holier than thou

Just finished my first term of architecture and Vince saved it. NOBODY cares about students more than he does. Blunt AF, always looks disappointed, walks/talks fast. Extremely supportive, sometimes funny, and slows things down for us. Knows so much! Scared when assigned him, so blessed I got him. Wanna say I'm PROUD to have him but he'd be angry.

I had Vince for ASC 101 and had an unforgettable experience. Vince creates a very enjoyable environment as a studio prof and ensures that his students do the best they can. He has high expectations and gives very blunt feedback during critiques. His method of teaching is incomparable to other profs. Get ready to work your butt off.

INTENSE. Learned more from him in a single review than my entire last term. Guy is intense about making his students and the program the best. He put 1000% because the other profs put 10%. Stay away if you want easy and dumb; get ready to work if you want to be good. But guy is INTENSE!

Vince Hui wants to be JK Simmons in Whiplash so bad. He thinks he is doing something profound by grooming a league of students who praise him. Trust me, from working for a firm with a quite pretigious international reputation, I realized I learned nothing from him except that some people are very weird. Just do what you are ambitious about.

Vince has been the singular most influential professor I have had at Ryerson. He is not easy, but he is worth it. He's fair, and he puts more time and effort into his students than any other professor. If you like being challenged, and if you're looking for a professor that will help you unleash your full potential, then Vince is for you.
