Great professor with tons of knowledge due to his immense experience in the film industry. His class was very interesting and I learned tons from the many speakers.
Mr. Levitan's teaching practices are incredibly disengaging; he uses the allocated class time to tell personal anecdotes that do not reflect any experience other than his own. His self-absorbed teaching practices are only overshadowed by his racist and Islamophobic ideologies, despite being an instructor in North America's most multicultural city.
My only issue with this prof is that he speaks a little quietly so it's hard to hear him unless you're in the front row. Otherwise, he has engaging lessons, he's always happy to answer questions both in and out of class and he has stories for days! There is a textbook but it's available for free at the TMU library.
Steven is out of the loop when it comes to the current music industry. I'm sure he was a heavy hitter back in the day but the music industry is moving too fast for him to keep up. He has the chance to make a difference with this class but uses it to talk about himself and the Beatles for three hours. should have retired years ago.
Steven is an old-school, traditional professor. While I don't agree with everything he says, I do believe it's important as students to be challenged and engage with material they don't see eye to eye with. He is an extremely easy grader if you show up and put any type of effort. I went to 5 classes but he still gave me a 90 for participation.
Great prof! Very accommodating and understanding. Had a great semester with him.
Steven offers no value to The Creative School other than his degrees and what he can sell you that he knows. He's outdated, unchallenging, and lies a lot. He's a good salesman though because he has some of you convinced that his words are important. Doesn't lesson plan or prepare. I question your intelligence if you found his ideas helpful or new.
Best teacher at TMU more talent in his pinky than other staff in the faculty. He is old fashioned, give it to you straight and some people do not like that. But that is the real world and he will prepare you without all the coddling of "we are all great" because we simply all are not.
Saying this class doesn't offer anything useful is pathetically false. The guest speakers offer tremendous value for your time and Steven is very knowledgeable about the industry and doesn't mince words about what you need to do to succeed. If you have an emotional reaction to every opinion that differs from yours, this industry isn't for you.
Has no actual lesson plans, relies on the guest speakers entirely, tests are outdated and have nothing to do with the “course content” which doesn't even exist because all the course is just guest speakers. NO real university level readings or content in this course. Embarrassing for the creative school to employ such an incompetent lazy prof.
