Janet Balfour

Janet was by far the best professor I have ever had. She is so caring, she even let me call her outside of class to discuss a personal issue that had to do with one of my other courses and gave me amazing advice. If you have the opportunity to take a class with her, PLEASE DO! You won't regret it.

I had her for this course last year. She is really caring. Her lectures are a lot so you need to choose what you want to write down/pay attention to. Fair marker. Will really help you because she wants you to succeed.

Janet was an amazing professor, and during my first semester of university, she was an amazing introduction to what a real professor is like. While the topics she covers are sometimes dry in nature, she still manages to make the class feel engaged. Make sure your still try your best as she recognizes hard work.

Janet was the best professor I've had so far. She made herself available any time I needed extra help, once she even made herself available for phone support when I was having a bit of a breakdown. She cares so much about her students and will do anything to make sure you succeed in her class.

I have no complaints about this teacher. The class was fair in its level of difficulty and she was a decent professor, solid choice

Janet was a wonderful professor. The class itself was pretty heavy, but definitely manageable. If you set up an appointment, Janet will help you a lot on the assignments.

Janet is one of the most caring and understanding profs I have ever had. She is super accessible outside of class and will help you immensely on any assignment she gives. With the pandemic, the class was graded on two quizzes, two Webquest assignments, and a research outline (originally for an assignment that was then cancelled). She's a real one.

Janet is the most kind and caring prof I have ever had. She goes out of her way to make sure students succeed and understand all course concepts. If you ask her about anything she will give the most thorough answer. Amazing study guides, most useful powerpoints ever, clear grading criteria. 10/10. If you have this prof you have been blessed!!!

The world could always use more heroes like Professor Balfour! My favourite professor at Ryerson! She is kind, caring and will go above and beyond to provide materials for you to succeed. Very knowledgeable in social policy and I genuinely learned a lot while not being overly stressed by the course.

There is not one bad thing you can say about Professor Balfour. She is so passionate, inspirational, honestly the best teacher ive had since I started at Ryerson. She really cares about students doing well. I would take her class again in a heartbeat. If you are here because you have her next semester.. ur lucky!!!
