Some tips: do the readings. You need to participate several times in each tutorial for each reading for full marks. Attending every class is absolutely mandatory; you will not do well if you don't. The course is definitely heavy but Dr. Vejdani is engaging and kind. He notices which students are putting in the work. It's a super-interesting class.
Attendance was not mandatory after the midterm because we didn't have a final exam. the prof is very knowledgeable and approachable. Be sure to start working on assignments before deadlines.
Very interesting course content, and honestly a very easy guy to talk to
Professor Vejdani is very caring, and his lectures are entertaining. However, he is a bit of a tough grader. We had 4 group discussions, and you must talk multiple times to get a mark (just showing up doesn't count). Prepare to attend every class and take a lot of notes.
He seems really nice but such a hard marker!! I came out his class not knowing what I could have done to make real improvements on my work. FOR non history majors, I dont recommend
honestly, he is a really good prof there was a lot of reading but it was all very interesting he does not provide PowerPoint but I actually enjoyed that because it kept me listening during class. easily one of my favourite professors I would take this class again.
Overall a good professor, quality content and caring. This class is extremely reading-heavy in an unnecessary way (a good chunk of the content is never covered in assessments or assignments). I made the mistake of missing classes and I wish I hadn't, content is not posted online. Was accessible during class and had a very helpful TA (Arvind Kang).
Overall enjoyed Professor Vejdani class! He is a very sweet and caring Professor. Very approachable and knowledgeable about his lectures. The slides were not posted on D2L which made attendance mandatory. Tutorials were also mandatory. However if you attended his lectures the exams were fairly easy. Overall would definitely take his class again!
Really cares about his students and was very approachable. It is a very heavy amount of reading, but it's manageable if you are interested in the content. If you like history, then he's a great prof to have
Professor Vejdani is honestly a great guy and cares about his students. That being said, his lectures are very heavy in terms of material. There is a lot you'll need to know and memorize and the readings are also really long. We only wrote one paper, and his exams were short and if you study and really know your stuff you can get a decent mark.
