This class is hard work but the payoff is that you'll leave speaking Spanish. Be ready to do several hours of assignments and review every week. If you don't participate, you lose marks -- which makes sense because this is a language class; you have to speak to learn. She notices who is trying and your effort is rewarded. Don't be scared to try!
Super understanding for late assignments, just keep open communications with her and treat her with respect. Remember to participate in class, as it's practice and it communicates to her that you're trying. Recomiendo que practique con sus amigos, quien hablar español. Porque el examen oral final vale el 20% de tu nota.
Dr. Garvida is 1 of the best profs you'll ever have. She's very kind, loves what she's doing and wants all her students to succeed. Her lectures are very interactive and the exams were all very easy. I will definitely take her again for 201. She covers everything in the lectures and even practises exercises you'll have for hw or exams.
Not an easy course, or it is probably because I didn't study enough. Although this is an intro to Spanish, it really needs your time and attention.
I thoroughly enjoyed the course. The professor was excellent, and the varied and frequent assignments greatly enhanced the learning experience for Spanish. I would definitely choose to take another course with her in the future!
This teacher is fair and is always is trying to look at for you and tells you whats important and what to look out for. she can come off as tough somethings but she does care.
This professor is extremely rude & condescending. She is a hard marker & has high expectations. If you speak fluent Spanish you will succeed in this class, but I speak little to none and thought this would be beginners. She laughed to my face during my oral exam. Would avoid this teacher at all costs, as she simply is not nice & teaches poorly.
She is the worst professor that I have ever had. Spanish101 supposed to be easy but she made the course like a nightmare. She expects you to be a fluence spanish speaker while grading your paper like even missing a comma costs you a lot of marks. She is not even good at teaching and skipping her classes would be the best way to get a better mark.
Great prof, people seem to think she is mean or harsh but its just not the usual canadian politeness. She wants you to learn the language so she corrects all your mistakes and marks accordingly. if you want to learn the language you will.
