I love Charlotte! What a sweetie! She can be a bit of a tough grader, but you'll do well if you follow the rubric and instructions. Also be sure to attend all classes.
She was better at teaching in my fourth year than she was in my first year (she was less boring). The topics she discussed were very thoughtful. Still pretty stingy with marks. She will not post slides for fourth-year students simply because she "did not like to", so pay attention in class.
She has a lot of useful information, but you should be ready to read because she wants you to understand the readings and how they relate to social work. At the same time, she does have her favourites in the class that she calls on mostly during the class to answer the discussion questions.
was ok but didnt know how to answer my questions
I'm not sure why people are saying she's a tough grader - if you follow the instructions and the rubric you'll do well! Charlotte is so sweet and takes the time to make sure she answers students questions. Make sure you do the readings though!
Professor is a nice person, but I didn't enjoy her class unfortunately. Her style of teaching just wasn't for me, and the content felt drab in response. Readings are important, more than the lectures honestly, and there are a lot of them. I also personally found her to be a pretty tough grader. Important: participation marks are worth 10%.
She's not bad as a person at all and could be kind of funny at times, she ask sometimes for you to relate concepts discussed in lecture to your own life so that helps a bit. However you are better off doing the readings than going to lectures cause full reading Information is needed for course work rather then the lecture summaries of the readings.
The prof herself is super kind, easygoing and collaborative. Her classes were easy to follow, even if you hadn't done a reading. However, having an essay and exam worth 40% is insanity. I have no idea if she or the faculty decided this, but it's super easy to fail because of the weight of the assignments/exams. It's very frustrating.
Short slideshows but be ready for full 3 hour lectures and lots of readings. Overall, nice professor who is very educated - however her teaching style is quite bland. Course includes 1 test, an essay, and a final - participation is not marked.
Concepts are great, but grading and assignments for the course are completely unreasonable. I worked really hard, and yet I felt constantly let down and unmotivated by her harsh marking. It's hard to believe she wants you to succeed with such an attitude. Lacking in its educational objective.
