Mrs Oswald was very monotone and seemed to not care about the content. Very stingy with marks and her slides were SO LONG, cramming SO MUCH material in her lectures. Study guides were basic and assignments were slightly confusing and difficult. Would not take again and dont recommend, learned nothing.
As a first-year student with a relatively weak background in geography, I find this course very helpful in building my foundational knowledge of physical geography. However, the content can sometimes be challenging because the slides contain little text, requiring me to rely on the textbook for deeper understanding. Her office hour is great!
Professor Oswald was an amazing professor to have, and I am planning to take more of her classes in the future! Her lectures are amazing, super engaging and detailed, and easy to understand. I am a disabled student and she was extremely accommodating throughout the semester. She very clearly cares about teaching her students, and I learnt a lot!
Uses her 3hr lecture period to cram a billion new topics in, without actually explaining them. Slideshows were 75 slides long containing all pictures and barely any words, so wasn't useful for studying - neither was the textbook. Midterm was terrible, half the class failed. Barely made it out alive. Don't take GEO131 unless you actually enjoy geo
Dr. Oswald is genuinely a great prof. Her lectures are very informative and are pretty straightforward to understand, provided you studied ahead of time of course. In this course, she focuses heavily on hydrology and water systems. Be prepared to read, shes very heavy on lectures. All in all though, shes still a good prof and I would recommend
Extremely stingy with how she grades it is insane, she's harsh and has no tolerance to Emails. I couldn't go to her office hours and still she wouldn't just answer my question via email. Her lectures are so boring and her tone makes it impossible to focus. Her slides have little to no information and she relies too much on reading the textbook.
Dry but clear in what she expects from you and you could see she cares a ton about the material
Professor Oswald is very passionate about what she teaches and makes the course very hands on and interactive. The world load can be heavy but is manageable if you are smart with your time. She provides good feedback and wants her students to succeed.
Prof. Oswald is efficient at communicating what needs to be understood to succeed in the course. Attendance is recommended because a lot of her slides require that you annotate on them or she will verbally describe what diagrams or figures because some of the slides may be hard to understand. takes long to release marks.
Lectures were always super unengaging but she's clearly passionate abt what she teaches, maybe not the teaching part itself though. Use the textbook for learning/studying/notes & lectures for clarification/information.
