You can tell he really tries his best to be accommodating especially with the quizzes (gave us a 5% bonus quiz at the end of the semester). Overall, I would say he's an okay lecturer, not the worst. Wish he went over more of the curves as there were tons on the final but he barely touched on it in class. Final was fairly difficult, easy midterm.
Typical economics course, difficult to teach and difficult to learn. Elaborates well but sometimes is just reading off the slides. If you do the readings, attendance isn't necessary.
Liu is a good prof. He gives suggestions regarding exams. Overall, a helpful prof.
Lectures are fairly boring. He reads off the slides and solves questions that are posted of blackboard. Only one midterm and one final, both multiple choice. Going to class is not necessary, but make sure you read all the slides and review all the questions he has posted. Replies to emails fairly quickly.
let me get straight to the point, the teacher does not use the board very often, he provides power point and they are very helpful, but it has to many slides, ECN 304, has a lot of graphs and equations, and I wish the teacher had used the board to explain them. overall not a bad prof but you need to learn a lot of things by your own.
His powerpoints are LIFE, print them out! You don't need the textbook. 40% midterm, 60% final (both multiple choice). A few of the practice questions show up on the exams. The final is much harder compared to the midterm. He really wants to help his students, ask him if you have any questions.
Exams are all MC. Don't need to take complete notes during his lectures since he reads off of the slideshows. Instead, focus on noting anything he mutters that isn't on it. He'll tell you when a bullet is important. Exams consist heavily on application questions. Know when & how to use the formulas/theories. Do his practice questions & do not skip.
Enjoyed him as a prof. Textbook is not mandatory in his class. If you excel at test taking, take his class because there's only a midterm and an exam. He's knowledgeable in the material and really want his students to get the material. Expect many review classes.
