I took SWP331 with Ken. I loved his teaching style, he didn't just read off of the slides or his notes. He made sure to make the class engaging and interesting often giving lots of real life examples for any topic. I felt very comfortable and engaged in his class, even though I'm usually hesitant to participate. Great inspiring individual.
Enjoyable professor. Skipped the break so we could always get out earlier. Group project is worth a considerable percentage. You need to to the readings in this course to understand the concepts. Final exam was tough.
One of the best profs I've ever had. He's such an interesting person who has clearly lived a full life outside of academia. Also a very kind man. His lectures involved a variety of fascinating topics, art pieces, guest speakers and discussions— we covered stuff that never came up in other courses, and left me feeling a zest for social work.
Prof. Moffatt is appreciated by students. He takes a very philosophical approach to teaching and goes beyond the content. Get ready to explore your own ideas and develop them in your papers and exams. He is about more than the surface - not the easiest but very rewarding to be in his class. Grades are fair
Attend class and do your readings, and you will do well :) He gives great advice as well
Show up, pay attention, and ask questions for clarification if you do not understand or wanna dig deeper, and you will do well :)
Great prof. Make sure to attend class, and do readings. He is very willing to explain if you don't understand something. very fair grading and exams are straightforward.
Prof. Moffatt uses a lot of theoretical/philosophical thinking in his teaching. Very important in his classes to know what critical thinking/reading/writing means, be clear, make connections, and come up with new arguments in your papers that are completely your own.
He is a nice teacher but soft spoken. His lecture is not very detail, its very basic and common sense and thats why participation did not matter because using reading materials to complete assignment was sufficient. No rubric and his assignments are kind of vague. He is an easy marker however he will be stingy to boost your marks from 87% to 90%.
