I don't know how he has a high rating here. He is very inconsistent with his grading criteria, and refuses to accommodate his students, even when they have very valid reasons to need some flexibility or extensions. He is very strict, and unapproachable. I literally dread having him as my prof again.
His name isn't just Sweet, He is Sweet. I absolutely loved having him as a Prof. He cares about his students learning experience and his lectures go more than just reading slides. I have never developed a better relationship with a prof before, he is super approachable and kind. Very understanding to students needs and accommodates when he can!
Professor Sweet is a SWEETIE! He's easy-going, VERY intelligent, and kind. I've had him for 2 diff courses and both grading criteria were similar. Basically multiple responses to lectures and readings, and if you're smart you'll get them done asap. Back to him as a person, I cannot emphasize what a lovely human he is, get to know and talk to him!!
I've enjoyed Professor Sweet all throughout the semester. He has many readings and some guest lectures throughout the semester. He really cares about his students and is very knowledgeable. I would not mind having another course with him.
Dr. Sweet is amazing! He has a passion for transportation planning and his lectures are very easy to follow. There is a lot of reading however I love the idea of lecture commentaries and reading responses instead of a final exam. His feedback is extremely detailed and he loves when you disagree and can make a good argument! def take his courses
He doesn't actually lecture. He makes us watch pre-recorded lecture, then we have weekly lecture and reading responses (and the readings are very dense), and discussions. It was nice when he switched the 8 am section to virtual, but now he's threatening to make it in person to boost participation. A semester with this course is a full time job.
he cares about success of students, very good at giving feedback in a way that is meaningful rather than high level, takes time to understand students individually, creates a class structure that is not a lecture but instead every week there are conversation groups, made it so you actually look forward to class every week
Reformed his class heavily for online learning, shows he put some effort in. Seems to be very nice. Graded heavily in participation in class discussions, but seemed to mark very easily. Was very clear about what he wanted assignment-wise. Lectures were not extremely long. Talks slowly, easy to understand. Can watch his lectures at 1.25x speed.
Professor Sweet makes me want to stay in planning. He is clear with what he wants and is pretty fair in grading. He structures his courses so that you have to do the readings but I find I always get a lot out of his courses. Gonna keep taking his classes, great prof!
Sweet has been nothing more than caring and understanding of his students, especially during the ongoing pandemic. While the reading responses were a bit tedious, they weren't worth much compared to a simple paper developed over the course of the semester. Combined with an asynchronous method of teaching and his smile of gold, he does a great job.
