Overall he is alright, very knowledgable and interesting but he lacks providing good examples often would have to look in the textbook or other sources on how to solve problems. Gave extra credit for participation during lectures. Midterm and final were fair
Dr. Afifi is an average prof. The surveying course is relatively easy to understand. Get the book from the library and solve the examples. The last few lectures are important (attend) and also solve the assignments yourself. The only problem is that his tests are old and he has not corrected the answer sheet, so the papers are wrongly corrected!
Akram was by far the worst teacher I have ever had. He does not know how to teach and honestly does not care about his students. I had him for a 2.5 hour class that we would have been lucky if he stayed for an hour of. His exams are all multiple choice but even he doesnt know the right answers to his questions.
This guy changed his midterm this year. 30 mc question and around 10 of them did NOT have the right answer in answer options. No instructions were given either. What a bum. Apparently you suppose to pick the closest answer to the one you get. So if your answer is 20 and only mc options you have: a) 1 b) 101 c) 120 d)55 the right answer will b a
Dr. Afifi knows how to teach this course very well to his students. He hints what is important material during class by telling students to be focused which is a good sign he wants everyone to do well. Labs were fun, lots of outdoor and hands-on activity. Slides were helpful but must be studied thoroughly in order to understand the material.
He is one of the best professors at Ryerson! He makes you work hard and love the course by giving bonus marks and free textbooks for doing well on the midterm(getting perfect) which is not that hard if you study.
Akram is by far the worst instructor I ever had. The lectures are supposed to be 90 minutes and he stays for only 15 minutes. He is also supposed to hand in back assignment within two weeks, it takes 2 months to give them back with absolutely no feedback. All in all,he does not take his job seriously. Dont teach if you cant
The guy is good even thought the course was fundemental . He enocurages us by offering free copy of thr course book if you achieved a 100% which is doable . Would definaltey take other courses with him again.
Very good professor, down to the earth, fair exams, good lectures
If you get to know him he is a really nice guy, down to earth. His lecture slides and labs contain all that you need for the tests. The tests are very predictable. The lectures are pretty boring, but in his defense with CVL405 (prob/stats) it is a very dry subject to begin with.
