Hoa Nguyen

Do yourself a favour and do not take this course.

Hoa is passionate about her lectures and so they remained interesting and interactive. Lots of group work in the form of sharing our writings and practicing editing work with classmates. I really enjoyed this class and enjoyed jumping into writing and editing the way this course allowed for.

Dr. Nguyen is one of the best professors I've had at TMU, very interactive with the class, makes you feel like a friend. Textbook is needed as will need to reference it in the weekly assignments due. No midterm or exam, mark comes from 1-2 assignments due weekly + attendance + group editorial boards. Easy marker and willing to give feedback.

I think I would have truly enjoyed this class if I wasn't feeling so burnout this semester. This course requires alot of writing. Quizzes every week or every other week on the lectures and required creative writing textbook.

I was hesitant to take her class because of the comments but she was not at all like them. Except perhaps a little monotonous but she was engaging and was not deathly boring. Amazing professor and so sweet. I'd definitely take another class with her again.

A one of a kind class and one of the best at TMU. I loved this course so much and I learned much more than I expected. Hoa is an amazing writer and an excellent, respectful, and sweet professor. There are a lot of assignments/readings and lectures are a little boring but you will 100% improve as a writer in the end. Put in some effort = easy A!

Excellent Professor

Sweet professor who is clearly very passionate about her work. The material is dry at times and can be repetitive, but the class overall is quite easy. I might have enjoyed it more if it wasn't at 8am.

Very nice professor. I'm surprised with the low ratings. Her lectures are a bit monotonous but they cover important things regardless. She repeats themes and concepts when she makes connections so it's not totally repetitive. This class is light and easy but still pushes you to be creative so I highly recommend it

This course benefits students with weekly assignments relieving stress from heavy tests and essays. Hoa's lectures are valuable as they cover essential knowledge and foster creativity. I gained useful editing skills from Hoa's teachings which I can take with me beyond the classroom. I loved being able to learn from her!
