This professor understands how child care works in Canada and is a leading scholar in advocating for children's rights. I was so pleased to have taken her course because as a master's student learning about how children and families face insurmountable odds to get child care, Brooke made it easy to understand how our governments need to respond.
Yeah, Brooke's a pretty intense teacher but she's so passionate about what she does and she definitely goes out of her way to help if you ask for it! If you follow along with the lectures, engage, and actually study for the midterm and final, you'll be more than fine. I know a new class has replaced POL220, so maybe that one is easier now.
Unfortunately, all ECE students were required to take this course. Brooke was a nice professor and an extremely passionate ECE. She had high expectations for her students and expected her students to know political contents inside out. Although she was a nice professor, her lectures were very boring. It was powerpoint and her none-stop talking.
Brooke's lectures are long and some of them are boring. Her midterm was very difficult causing half my class to drop the course. There was a long paper to write. The final exam was easier than the midterm because she gave us a little more guidance than before. You dont really need the textbooks since she goes over everything in her slides.
