Her instructions are confusing and constantly changing, as is her grading scheme. She does not answer questions clearly, often seeming to not understand the question. Lectures are just read off of slides and are not interesting. Does not link readings to lecture material, making the readings a bit of a waste of time. Does not explain key concepts.
Unfortunately, Dr. Newman is confusing, inconsistent, indirect and constantly changing her grading criteria and explanations. Her material is outdated and unengaging. She demonstrates limited concern for supporting students in their learning journeys, providing a poor experience where effort should be made to foster growth and critical development.
Kristine was alright as a professor, but it was hard to pay attention since the pacing was a bit slow during lectures. She is nice and all, but the class itself is useless. Fourth year students do not want another rerun of year 3 pushed into one course. No one showed up to class, readings not needed. This needs to change.
Lectures are worse than watching paint dry. SO boring, unenthusiastic, flat affect and she constantly says "um" or "uh". Though I tried, I could never stay for an entire lecture, it drove me mad to listen to her. Very defensive. Complicated assignments with little explanation. Gerontology focused. Needs to focus on research and stop teaching.
Delivers lectures in monotone and ONLY reads off the slides. Disrespectful to students when they had an honest question about class material (made them feel small for asking), and gets defensive when you question why she marked your paper a certain way. Rude to students overall and not helpful.
Her lectures didn't expand much on the PowerPoint content. But at least she got us to do group activities sometimes and the lectures could still be useful at times. The exams were mostly based on the PowerPoints, so I recommend studying off those. She was pretty fair in grading the assignments and the criteria was clear. It was easy to do well!
Kristine does not add much more information than what is already on her slides. She literally reads off of them and speaks with little enthusiasm. Many people did not show up to lecture because of this, but at least achieving a good grade was not so difficult.
Kristine us very approachable and is a very kind and sweet prof.
Although at times the class got boring, the prof was an easy-fair marker as long as you followed the grading criteria and ensured that your papers followed the clear instructions that the prof posts. The exams were fairly easy and I felt that most and almost all of the content on the exam came from the PowerPoints.
She does these mindfulness activities. It's really nice!
