Esi is really upfront about what you need to do to pass and get a good mark. You need to show up to class, take notes, and engage in the content. She provides lots of relevant examples and takes the time to talk through concepts. It's a content-heavy course and for those new to law there is lots to learn. She's a great prof with lots to teach.
She is pretty straight forward. You show up to class and you pass. Esi is a fair marker because everything is LITERALLY from class. If you pay attention, she says "this will be on the exam" - it will literally be on the exam. She was an amazing prof and very knowledgeable.
She spends the class reading lectures but most examples cannot be related to the material. When asked tough questions she always says "to the extent of" her example and brushes off the question. Is not good when you challenge a concept in a discussion. Does not provide good feedback when grading. Does not prepare you for tests/assignments. BAD!
At first she seems tough, but as the semester goes on you can really see that she wants you to learn. She will always make herself available to answer questions in class and afterwards (or at break), and responds to emails very quickly. If you are ready to put in some effort it will pay off, and you'll feel like you actually learned something.
AVOID her. If you want to take it at night and she's the only one teaching the course, don't even consider taking her course. She's not helpful and Im really not sure why she even teaches at Ryerson. She makes Ryerson look bad within the law field.
She is by far the hardest professor you will probably have when it comes to law. She marks papers as if her students were studying law for their career choice. She does not care about her students. By all means if you can avoid her - do so. I attended every lecture, participated every time and studied. I left the class with a C+. AVOID.
WORST PROF EVER! all she does is read off the slides, so going to class doesn't help at all. Is extremely tough grader and doesn't give any substantial feedback. Don't take a class with her!!
She is strict on the rules and isn't accommodating at all. With that aside, she expects you to write every single detail of that particular law on the exam otherwise you won't get full marks. She reads off of PowerPoints but still expects students to show up. Save yourself the stress and take another prof's course.
She reads slides, regimented, it's like you're in a court room. Smart woman, doesn't bend rules, ever. meh, would not take another class with her.
If you are looking for a flexible and accommodating instructor, move on, she is not it. I'm a very mature student that needed some flexibility and she would not work with me on it, when I pushed back, she got nasty. Highly DO NOT RECOMMEND HER, there are better profs at ryerson for law.
