She's relatively friendly but goes on too many tangents, speaks too slowly, gets into debates/arguments with students, and doesn't explain the concepts well. Read the textbook if you want to understand the concepts and get a good grade.
I tried to switch out of her class but had no luck, so I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. She LOVES group work and letting the class "teach" the class. Somewhat of a tough grader, doing what is expected in assignments will earn you a 70-range grade. Participate in her class, and do the readings; don't rely on her lecture slides alone!
Terry really cares for her students to do well! Very accessible, responds quickly with much detail. Keep up with her regarding your project and you will do well! Also gives tips on how to study for exams. (Although this part is all on you. You have to read to succeed. Don't expect anybody to spoon feed you at this point.)
If you can NOT take her I would suggest it. Poor feedback, unclear grading guidelines, unrealistic expectations were just the tip of the iceberg. Avoid her at all costs. Make sure you read and participate in class or she will make it painful to go to class.
From the beginning I heard a number of negative feedback about Terry's teaching style and grading techniques, however entering her class I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. Throughout the course she was unable to provide us with clear guidelines for assignments and she is a VERY DIFFICULT marker.
This professor is a very hard marker. She is extremely particular about APA yet makes numerous errors in her corespondents With her students.
Although she did take a while to return assignments, Terry was sweet & very fair. As long as you put some time & thought (& follow APA) you can do great. She was super helpful & emailed back quickly. The course was planned poorly since profs were not supposed to lecture yet we had a final exam. But I finished with a great mark & liked her alot!
She has poor time management, often allowing pointless discussions in class to be carried out that takes up the majority of the class's time. She can take up to a week to respond back to emails. She gives unclear instructions for assignments, that causes confusion and inconsistency across other leadership sections.
Provides untimely feedback. Does not grade according to rubric. Purchase online version of the book to get near perfect on exams - don't waste time studying. Provided the INCORRECT final exam and forced students to rewrite at a later date or keep original mark. No apologies for error. Switch out of her class if possible.
Switch classes if you can, nothing more to say than that. Comes to class late, hands back all assignments after exams (way after the deadline) so its completely useless because you don't know your grade. Memorize the textbook, its your only way of passing the course.
