Many people complain that Yahya is a hard marker and challenges his students' views in class. This is true, and I am grateful for it. He is what I expected a graduate professor to be like. He pushed you to think and explore ideas. Grades are earned, and he is there to support you through that process. Great prof.
Poor feedback and uncomfortable class environment. But everything will be fine if you agree with his theories just don't bring different opinions to class you will be criticized for them. Assignments are unclear and feedback is focused on how he would have personally written your assignment using his theoretical framework.
Overall a great prof. He is able to teach the subjects in very simple, easy to understand ways. Also, he is willing to spend as much time on a subject as people need to fully understand it. Only issue is sometimes the grading criteria on assignments does not accurately reflect exactly what he is looking for, so be sure to ask for clarification
Professor El-Lahib is very kind, knowledgeable and engages his student by preparing interesting class activities. I really enjoyed having him to learn about social policies, especially at 8 am! It was a valuable learning experience for me and I would take other courses with him.
Yahya brings wealth of experience to the class room and his teaching style is very innovative. He is fair and approachable and uses lots of interesting audiovisual material in his lectures. Take any course with him and you will enjoy a fine teacher!
Yahya is great teacher who knows his material. Take his course and be prepared to think outside the box. He is passionate and cares about his students. Though he has expectations from his students to do their readings, attend classes and participate!
Yahya is the best teacher who made social policy to be accessible, applicable and fun, especially at 8am. Come to class prepared and do the reading as they are important to make sense of what the lecture is about. Yahya is an educator who cares about his students. He is helpful, approachable, and supportive, take his class, you won't regret it!
If you can get into another section I would jump at the chance. Yahya is eager to help but when it comes to grading, he's not easy. Also, make sure to tie EVERYTHING back to neoliberalism and policy or else you'll fail, seriously. Overall, he's eager to help but you'd be better off going with another prof and getting the marks you WORKED HARD FOR.
