Gabe has an extensive history of the photography industry, but is not the best lecturer. Lectures tend to drag. Assignments offer a lot of creative freedom and the ability to work in studio, but he can be quite passive aggressive, especially with feedback. If you don't have alot of experience with photography, he can be harsh.
He doesn't seem to know much about photography and art. All he does in class is read slides. He sometimes gets aggressive and never posts anything from class. No clear feedback of assignment and No clear teaching criteria ,won't be take this course again!
End of semester there's a photo recognition test. Gabe denies students access to photos because he claims students have done too well in the past. I'm under AAS due to medical issues and once I couldn't come to class because of my illness. I asked Gave for the photos I missed that week and he flat out refused me and said I should've come to class.
Gabe can come off as nice, however, he is extremely passive aggressive when you question him or show him your mood board for projects. His rubric is extremely vague and he doesn't even follow it. He'll tell you your concept is great and that you've followed all of the requirements but then takes marks off based on his own personal preference.
Great person, ok prof. Knowledgeable about fashion photography. Assignment rubrics are confusing and not detailed. Lectures are too long. Participate so that it goes by quicker.
Really bizarre experience. You'd think by the title and summary of the course it would be a lot more exciting but it's super lecture heavy. He basically just spends the entire class reading through slides. He's very unclear in his grading approach, no criteria or comments. Very passive aggressive and also chooses favourites. Gave me a weird vibe.
Gabe is a chill guy, but not the best professor. He obviously knows what he's talking about when it comes to photography but he's very passive aggressive in his comments on your work when in the studio. He's very funny though, and his stories during lecture are engaging. Honestly, just use this class to get some really awesome portfolio images.
Gabe was alright, I felt like this class could've been a lot more exciting than it actually was. It is more of a self-taught course with trial and error. He's accessible outside of class but sometimes slow to respond to emails & teaching style can come off passive. Wish he had an actual grading rubric rather than just giving you a grade & a comment
He seems nice at first but after awhile he gets passive aggressive. His lectures and grading criteria is extremely vague and while he does seem to be accessible outside of class, his responses aren't usually very helpful. He definitely has favouritism in his grading, and I remember he apologized once for saying "guys". Too much fake wokeness.
