Not approachable, Lectures are fast-paced and can be hard to follow. She goes through practice questions, but extra help can be limited. Her teaching style is structured, so you need to follow her expectations. Focus on textbook problems and practice exams, as they're the most helpful for success.
$90 MANDATORY textbook ONLY for pearson quizzes. enforces participation by pop quizzes. low quality exams, use tons of abbreviations and uncommon terms without any context just to disgust students. i never listen to her in class cuz idk what she's talking about. if u r just interested in it, u will learn nothing except how to deal with her exams
Honestly, the reviews are a lot harsher than she deserves. Read the textbook, participate once or twice in class and you'll be fine. A bit of a temperament for sure but honestly they're quite funny… She is flexible when delivering lectures which can be online or in class. But she is quite forgetful about what went on the previous class.
content is super interesting if u like orgo. she does teach a bit fast and lectures can be a bit overwhelming but she covers everything u need to know for the tests in class so if u attend and practice assigned problems, u will do well. always strive to understand and not memorize!! she was also super sweet to me.
She was fine in the beginning of the course, most of the content was basic science knowledge of biology and chemistry. HOWEVER, she is passive aggressive, can be rude to her students and expects us to do well but rushes through 70+ slides in like 30 minutes! But honestly if you go through slides and textbook at your pace and study, you're good.
strict but great teacher. for those who dont have a basic background in bio and chem, this would be a hard course. her exam review was helpful along with videos explaining different concepts learnt in class. the only reason why i wouldnt take this class again is bc its not rly a gpa booster, you rly have to do the readings and go to all classes.
Dr. Iyer is rude, disrespectful and forgetful. There is a mandatory $96 textbook where you take online quizzes worth 10% of your mark. For a course designed for non-science students, it was still very difficult. Final exam was way harder than the midterm and consisted of 84 multiple choice questions + a short answer question. Do not recommend.
content is super interesting if u like orgo. u learn about spectroscopy, carbonyls, carboxylic acids, amines and synthesis. her tests were very straightforward as she covers all bases in lectures. she can go a bit fast but will tell u everything u need to know for the tests. also does a lot of practice Qs in class that she repeats on tests.
Do not take any of her classes! She has a mandatory textbook for $100 that 10% of your grade is tied to. She is extremely rude to all students and will humiliate students in front of everyone. Her tests and material is extremely science based and tests are very hard for being a 183 course. Take this as your sign to get out while you can.
She is a nice person, the course was interesting. The midterm and final were very heavy though, definitely not a bird course.
