Pros: Engaging lectures and a fair professor. Cons: Extremely heavy weekly homework (up to 200 questions) and mandatory tutorials. The textbook is required for almost everything. Exams are tough and may not reflect lecture content well because of AI integration. Definitely a difficult elective if you are not an Econ major.
Prof Barbiero is highly educated in economics, he explains the content very well. My biggest regret is not showing up for most of the lectures, the ones I did go to helped me understand the material way better than I could have on my own. The weekly homework was extremely time consuming, and worth 20%. Learned a great amount, but wouldnt take again
Prof. Barbiero is a kind man who has a passion for economics. First 2 midterms went smoothly. The final = jump scare, I wasn't ready. The assignments can be reeeally long or very short, but they're every week. Not an ecn major? Proceed with caution unless you're very interested in how the world works. To be fair, I did learn and it was interesting.
Decent professor who is obviously very knowledgeable about economics. However, you will be having to spend numerous hours a week on all the homework you receive. The good part is 30% of your grade is based on tutorial attendance and assignment completion. Overall, okay teacher who's caring, but would not take again.
This prof aint horrible, his midterm was pretty fair, hopefully the final is too. What i hate about his class is the weekly labs we got to complete. It literally takes like over 6 hours to complete like theres 200+ questions every single lab and if you dont complete the whole thing you will a zero, which genuiely angers me
Gave me an extension on a missed assignment even though I was only inquiring to see if I misheard regarding a mistake on the due date on D2L. W prof
He is an amazing professor. Excellent lectures and class structure
I basically self-taught the course :) no point in going to his lectures, not very engaging and boring. Also there's weekly podcasts to listen to which contains info thats will 10000% be on the exam. The exam is very podcast heavy and less of the stuff he actually teaches in class.
He is very passionate about econ and his examples are sooo interesting and funny. He's a very nice prof for sure! His lectures can sometimes be boring but he usually ended early anyways. The weekly smartbook assignments, however, are A LOT and made econ less enjoyable for me but they did help my understanding nonetheless!
Absolutely loved him! His lectures are entertaining, I love going to his lectures. My friends and I would always await his bowties and berets. The only downside is the extremely long weekly assignments, I will say, they do help with understanding the course material. If you have him you lucky to:)
