easy prof but implies western biases in his teaching and borderline teaching anti-China rhetoric by teaching outdated, misinformation while disregarding western interference in Asia. don't expect to actually learn about peace and security in Asia.
10/10 prof, and interesting class.
Very dismissive and teaches very outdated info. Easy assignments and tests, grating and convoluted lectures. Condescending. Constantly reiterates importance of staying neutral, informed, and open-minded, but shuts down current viewpoints and pushes very specific perspectives. Would not recommend for students who take their work seriously.
This course and prof were very straightforward, the course textbook is his own so he has a great understanding of the course and the tutorials were also very light, the exams were very easy and he gives bonus marks for attending lectures even though its optional.
one of the easiest politics courses i've ever taken. there were two mcq tests and one research essay (6 pages). the mcq tests were so easy bc the questions were sometimes obvious + it was open-book. as long as you took notes from the readings (just the textbook) and the lecture, you're fine. great prof and would recommend taking him if you can.
The tests were multiple choice and open book. He stopped posting slides after week 6 because he felt we weren't using his textbook enough. Said that we should just buy it because it isn't expensive and we could always sell it to a student taking this course next year? Also said we should "go to the publisher online and give it the highest rating".
All of these other reviews are people mad that thought they were going to get A+ without putting any work in but didn't. He gave so much extra credit and the exams were extremely easy. He made the final even easier due to the midterm average being in the 70s. The paper was only 6 pages. The prof is an amazing person and is really understanding.
He was sweet and caring, simplified the final to give students a grade boost, and offered bonuses like 5% for attendance and Model UN. If we wrote a position paper for Model UN, we would have one less page for the final essay. His real-world side stories made the politics class engaging and relevant.
Relatively easy; however, the lecture slides were removed after the midterm due to one classmate cheating using AI. I did not find that to be a viable reason to no longer upload the lecture slides - slides are content-heavy heavy and it is hard to pay attention to the lecture when you cannot keep up! The textbook is overpriced.
If you go to every class and/or do Model UN, you get an extra 5% for both. He got rid of the slides after the midterm. He was upset that we relied too heavily on the slides and not on his own written textbook, which cost $50. He strayed off topic every time, talked too fast, and made no sense of the slides or text. Tests were so-so, don't recommend
