Ben Barry ran his lecture like a Stasi officer. He would send his TAs into the crowd and ensure no one was texting or discussing things amongst themselves. He preemptively shut down any dissenting opinions in lecture, and it felt more like a political rally than a classroom. A pervert's idea of education.
Ben Barry is one of the best professors that I met in Ryerson. Although the homework is a little bit more, the topic of the assignment is always really creative.
-Actually cares about the students -Listens to what you say -Classes talk about real world -A real G
Prefers to spend his time peddling junk social theory that does more to divide people than unite them. Has no actual experience in fashion unlike his predecessor, and offers niceties rather than solutions to industry issues. Absolute waste of time but, hey he's charismatic! so who cares that no one actually learns anything in his class!
He's very sweet and has a lot of industry experience. He's very kind and he wants the best for society. But if you want to learn about clothes and fashion this class isn't the best for that. It was mostly about social issues rather than brands and style
This class is will change your life, seriously. I learned about so many issues about inclusion in fashion that have given me such a clear vision and purpose of what I want to do in the industry. Ben invites so many speakers to lecture and his lectures are all interesting and his slides and GIFs the best. Def take this class.
He pretty much gave us the exam lol which was nice. But the class was WAY too intense in terms of shoving a bunch of social/political messages down your throat and teaching them as fact. And were not talking trans/gay awareness. Were talking EXTREME claims (not made my him, but the speakers). Didn't learn much. seems like a good guy.
The guys inspirational, he started his own agency when he was like 16. If you read his background hes crazy! Its just his lectures are super redundant and super duper boring. Nice guy it seems tho, him, his bf and dog look great!
This is what a class should be-engaging, relevant to todays world and our lives, weekly guest speakers with interesting perspectives! Panels especially allowed us to connect the material and theories to reality and see different aspects of the industry in which we could work in the future. Amazing class!
