I found Aliya to be extremely in-touch with the realities of practice, and being a junior lawyer. Her advice was very much "this is how it is", she does not sugar coat anything. Her tutorials are always engaging and interactive, I went to all of her sessions because I genuinely enjoyed it. She knew everyones name in my tutorial.
Didn't really remember anyone's names outside of a select few students, so it's unclear how you get participation marks if you weren't among those students. Funny TA. Tried to make sessions as practical as possible.
Aliya is a fantastic professor, and quite frankly, was one of the best professors I've had throughout law school. She brought a positive and vivacious energy into the classroom, which was really refreshing. Aliya also takes a practical approach to teaching contract law, ensuring that you understand the foundations of contract writing.
Prof Ramji gets a bad rap on this site. She's not condescending, she just has low patience for stupidity which is actually good preparation for the real world. She doesn't do any of the marking, so it's the TA you have to worry about. Ramji is an accomplished professional but not a very passionate educator. Easy lectures, last assignment is hard.
Professor Ramji is truly a great instructor. She always keeps the lectures engaging and still manages to answer questions throughout the time slot. She always makes herself available after class to answer any sort of question, whether it be about the course or the field of law in general. Only complaint is that she hasn't watched 'Suits' yet.
I was nervous to have her as my professor. I found her intimidating my first class but after few weeks I realized how down-to-earth and genuine she is. She has accomplished so much, like SO MUCH so it is amazing to hear her speak about her profession and everything she has done. She has insight into things that many profs don't have.
Professor Ramji was an amazing professor who took the time to explain concepts fully and in a variety of ways. I could not have imagined a better professor for this course, my only regret is that she does not teach more! Ryerson if you're reading this, get Professor Ramji more courses!!
Aliya is a true girl boss!! She's amazing at teaching and she's willing to mentor students outside of class too. She's always there to help when you need help with understanding the material and gives little hints for assignments too. The assignments in this course are graded by the TAs, but Aliya is a real gem.
Great tutorial prof to have for contract law: tons of interesting real-world experience that she uses to help the class learn practical knowledge for working with contracts. Assignments are hands-on and impart real knowledge. Would 100% take again, you are lucky if you have her.
Professor Ramji was hands down amongst my favourite professors during my 4 years at Ryerson! She clearly outlines her expectations from day one and her lectures were always something to look forward to, even at 9am. She does her best to ensure her students succeed and she will make you feel comfortable when in class. Overall, HIGHLY recommended!!!!
