She cares a lot about her students and will always help you if you ask for extra help. Considering the circumstances, she managed this course well. It's hard for students and professors to do a creative program online! She pushes you to be more creative and explore the boundaries. Maybe makes students panic when they don't know exact expectations.
Professor Ishii can go on wordy tangents but a lot of what she has to say is informative and valuable. She cares deeply about her students and was always available outside of class to provide extra help. This was a solid and rewarding course. She cares most that you're engaged in the creative process and wants her students to succeed.
Professor Ishii is caring and offers a lot of flexibility in her review of work. Unfortunately the online course with her was often confusing, unstructured and I didn't feel as though I learned much. Commonly she would cut off students as they are speaking or asking questions. This was my experience and it was disconcerting.
She gives students freedom with their projects, and maybe that stresses people out because they don't know exactly what to do to please her. She gives suggestions but does not force anyone to take her suggestions. I think she has a lot of great input and can really help you grow as a designer. The only negative is that she talks a lot at times.
Professor Ishii is extremely difficult to work with. She is very vague and does not allow you to finish one sentence without her interrupting and going off on a tangent. She makes you feel very discouraged. Would not recommend.
She is extremely vague in her feedback in that she speaks in very abstract metaphors and parables in order to give you advice. Prepare to try and decode what she is saying before your next checkoff. She interrupts you when you speak and asks rhetorical questions regarding your project that you're not sure if she's really asking or being facetious.
Least favourite professor out of everyone I have had. I don't think she is professor material. She does not seem compassionate, often goes off of tangents, and when ask her a simple question she will overcomplicate the conversation into something un-understandable. When you present her ideas she will suggest the opposite. Unhelpful, unnecessary.
Professor Ishii can either connect on an intense level with her students or they totally don't get her. Take her class if you're prepared to be open-minded and creative instead of wanting to take the easiest possible route to a good mark. You need to understand that she's trying to guide you to be a designer rather than a regurgitator of ideas.
If you have Margaret Ishii, you will think she is absolutely out of her mind at first. Then you will realize she is full of great ideas and inspiration and have a higher level of respect for her. Her ideas are hard to understand because of the way she tries to explain them, but underneath is a good effort to communicate
