Only here for a paycheque, does not care for her students. You can tell. The work load is heavy and course structure is not designed well. Her marking scheme will also make absolutely zero sense whatsoever (AI will be used to mark your work). Interesting course but make sure you have someone else instructing it for your own sanity.

extremely disorganized course with vague instructions

I have never taken a worse class, with the most vague instructions in my entire life. If you have a part-time job, learning how to draw and trying to do this course, either drop out or quit your job. The difficulty and progression of learning make it extremely difficult to achieve success in this course. Shelagh is a hard marker, 50s with trying.

Drafting portion of this course is intense, everyone is burnt out! Drafting and digital should be separated into 2 different courses with no more than 1 project per week to prevent burnout. We have other courses, long commutes, and jobs. That being said we are lucky to have Dr McCartney as a prof, she just needs to lighten the workload.

1. The grading system is horrendous. 2. The syllabus is confusing and hasn't been updated. 3. The projects you're working on overlap. 4. Reading responses were so unnecessarily extra; the load was insane (maybe about 200 pages a week). This course was draining but it had its moments

So happy I got to take this class. She is one of the greats.

This class provided the international Urban design content I was looking for. I liked the way she spoke to us and asked our opinion of things. We had extra class time and she asked us what type of learning experiences we wanted to expand on. I liked this class a lot. Not a tough grader.

I previously had Dr. McCartney for PLG 220 she was very hard but for PLG 755 the class has a lot of readings. If you enjoy urban design it's tolerable plus the readings are just throughout half of the semester and the other half there are no readings. The class projects are fairly easy it just depends how you are willing to meet her standards.

Seemed caring, course was hell though. Probably the most difficult course I've taken ever (took this last year, but writing this review now). If you suck at drawing like me you will not have a good time in her course (even if you are a good drawer it will still be extremely difficult). Got an A- because my grade was curved and I did well in 2ndhalf

The worst professor I have ever had in my 4 years. She has alot of useless assignments which teaches us nothing imo. She does not care about her students at all, she has no compassion, and is just plain rude. If you can, I would say avoid her at ALL costs.
