Extremely kind and understanding but his lectures were dry and content heavy. His slides are extremely long and filled with unnecessary content. Midterm and especially the finial were harder than youd expect considering the course so make sure you study! Focus on application of concepts and direct memorization of the content and you should be good

Tends to read off slides unless it's a topic of interest such as his own research (Fatty acids + Migration). I believe he spent the first two weeks talking about himself and his research. You can just imagine what he made his final exam short answer questions about....

Lectures are very content heavy - as in they tend to be filled with majority of useless topics. Rambles and gets off topic quite a bit. Attendance is not mandatory as everything and anything is in the powerpoints. Study hard for exams, not as easy as you think theyd be.

Course content very basic, but expects super in-depth knowledge of the topics. Too much material to get into the type of detail he expects. Class size extremely large (had nearly 4 classes of presentations, out of a term... only actually taught for like 7 weeks)

There were eight options for the multiple choice part of the exams. Each choice was three to four sentences..... AVOID

In the beginning I thought he would be boring but his lectures are actually really interesting and he brings great insight to the content covered. The midterm questions were incredibly straightforward - and he made it really obvious in lecture which topics he was going to focus on for the midterm.

Very monotone, reads off the slides only, and frankly very boring. Attendance isn't necessary as again, he just reads off the slides. His exams - especially midterms, are difficult so read the textbook and study hard.

Dr. Arts is an amazing teacher. His powerpoints help you on the midterm and final exam. This course is not too hard if you keep up with the notes every week. The midterm was a little difficult but the final was easy.

Professor Arts makes really boring stuff sound bearable. He knows when to crack jokes and is such a nice person. His tests are fair and all the material is from his lecture slides and the textbook. I would totally take another biology class with him as a prof again.
