One of the best professors you can be blessed to have. Very much cares about her students' learning and social work as a whole. Is not as concerned about following readings or lectures as much as having open and honest conversations about the socio-political climate of our world. The simulations are intimidating, but she wants everyone to succeed.
In SWP335 Participant is mandatory to get the mark but if you can' t come on a date just email Karen, Group presentation going to talk in front of class, midterm pretty easy if you read the readings just 5 questions but final very hard make sure to study all the readings. My cons Karen does not post all the google slides of each week lecture.
Karen is an amazing professor. With an untraditional teaching style that helps students stay engaged. I found her class to be enjoyable. She always ensured to create a safe learning environment for everyone. I would 100% recommend taking one of her classes!!!!!
While she is a good person and professor, I don't really agree with or understand her marking. Make sure you are comfortable with constant in-class participation and attendance, or her class is not for you. Also takes a long time handing back grades.
What you see is NOT what you get. Be aware that there will be a lack of understanding if something happens and you cannot show up to class, even with accommodations for disability.
Professor Karen has made it known in class that they rarely give students A+ due to the perception of students being "perfect." Rarely shares slides with students
Professor Karen is an exceptional professor, and I admire their teaching style and unapologetic passion. However, the prolonged grading process and consistent inaccuracies in marking have influenced my decision not to enroll in their class.
Not enough characters to describe how much I love Karen! Always graded fairly and with great detail, incredibly supportive and caring, kind, fun, and very insightful. Her seminars are never dull, course content is always applicable and interesting, and as a field instructor: 1000000000/10! If you want to succeed, communicate & participate!
She's a nice professor. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY.
