This is the intellectual history of psych so it's going to require work. But it's very doable! Attendance is mandatory. Do the readings. Becky gives great study tips/guidance for exams. Her assignments help you grasp the material. She wants you to succeed; you just have to put in the work. She is hilarious, engaging, and makes three hours whizz by.
Becky is a lovely person and a great lecturer. If your taking this course in your fourth year, as it is mandatory, expect that you will be treated like a fourth year student and must do the work. If you go to class and make the effort you'll do fine.
This course is very difficult!! It's tempting to dislike Becky but she is kind and very knowledgeable, the course just sucks (especially if you hate history!) However I do feel she could've made things a little easier in certain places to combat the difficulty of the course. Be prepared to prioritize this course and attend all classes.
HATE THE CLASS NOT THE PROF! Becky is probably one of the best profs I've had! She is very knowledgeable about the content and is entertaining during lecture. I found the content to be interesting bet YES, it is A LOT of work. By far one of the hardest classes I've taken simply based on the amount of content covered. She's very encouraging tho!
As lovely and sweet as she was, this class was challenging. The majority of the exam questions were based on the textbook, and a lot of the material wasn't included in the lectures, so that was tough. She did make classes more entertaining, cracked a few jokes, and made attending them less daunting.
I think Becky could be my best friend but this class was rough. If you're a history buff you'll be fine, but for those who struggle learning 1000 names and deeply understanding what each of them did, this class takes a ton of work to do well in. Sucks to have a GPA buster right at the end of your degree like this.
Solid professor, very into social justice and podcasts. Not for everyone. An assignment every week, podcasts instead of readings occasionally, dense readings. Gives amazing review notes, and lets you know about short answer questions ahead of time. Not my favourite, but she knows her stuff.
I had Carolyn Davison for this course, and I would definitely choose her again. Becky is nice, but Carolyn was a lot more patient and understanding for this course. Although Carolyn was a great prof, I do wish she had more autonomy over the course as a lot of the course was managed by Becky. There was an essay exam. Study a lot and you'll do fine.
Please just avoid her if you can. She is entertaining and funny in lectures, but she speaks so fast it is hard to keep up. She is not very approachable and expects you to memorize the textbook for the exam. The paper is also marked quite hard, so be prepared for that. Really didn't enjoy this course at all. Just read the textbook, you need to.
LOVED Becky. She kept lectures engaging for the entire 3 hours, and her in class activities are really useful for understanding the material and getting easy marks. Txtb chpts can be long and theres lots to know for exams, but if you're a 4th year I feel like you should expect that at this point lol. She's not as bad as people make her out to be.
