Super accessible, and is willing to walk you through everything if youre ever confused. He knows his stuff thoroughly and has the biggest heart. Class consisted of 2 exams on D2L + four assignments
Eric was so nice and eager to teach. You can tell he really cares about the subjects and wants students to do well. He made the final assignment optional to boost your grade. He is a really easy marker and makes it known he is there for extra help.
Asynchronous course and attendance isn't required. It's mostly GeoDa software, so it can be tough if you don't like using software. He replies fast to emails, is very calm, and will explain things multiple times if you don't get it. Only 2 online tests and 4 assignments. Good grader and very chill course.
Very disorganized. Made an announcement saying he won't answer emails. Changed the date and format of a test within the week that it was supposed to be. Didn't know what assignment to give us until the semester was almost done. Kept switching between doing discussion posts or in class participation even though he said you just needed to attend.
Professor Vaz is such a knowledgeable person, and the content is so informative. The course does require dedication which should easy because this is university; but it truly pushes you to learn and develop new skills, especially with QGIS, which I hadn't used before. One of the best professors; loved this class
If you wanna learn GEO under the most caring, and enthusiastic professor in Ryerson, this is your course. Dr Vaz is such an amazing soul, and has a motivation to teach to help us understand. All of his quizzes were fair, and he even cares about our wellbeing in class. Such an amazing professor, loved the jazz music every class.
If u want an easy A course take GEO702 with Eric Vaz
Eric is an amazing prof! Would love to take him again! He records his lectures so if you're not able to attend his classes, he uploads them for you to watch at another time! He only gives out 3 tests (that are worth 30% each) and participation marks (10%). His tests were pretty easy as long as you buy the textbook to study.
One of my favourite profs of the semester. Very understanding and kind, listened to feedback and was willing to make changes. I found tests were based heavily on the textbook.
Although it seemed at times that Prof. Eric gets flustered with having 150-250 students in his class, he does try his best to cope. He listens to students feedback and accordingly made changes to the course outline multiple times. There was some confusion nonetheless. At times it felt like he was rude to students as well. Overall super easy so 9/10
