he wastes a lot of class time giving "life talks" rather than taking the time to teach us the important concepts in the class. he expects students to figure out problems themselves as well as how to use a finance calculator themselves when all it takes is maybe 2 minutes to quickly show students how to use one. You end up learning the stuff yoursel
AVOID! I took his class in the summer and basically cried every time I'd leave his lectures. I don't even think he likes Ryerson because he loves to compare Schulich and UofT to Ryerson (don't know why he doesn't go there and teach). He also loves to talk about how his friends don't like hiring students from Ryerson. He's so discouraging.
He is a good professor, he teaches and explains in a way that is easy to understand. If you want an easy mark is not the best option; but if you want to learn to go ahead. Good luck.
he comes off as a little cocky from time to time and the first class he seems really harsh and scary but really he just wants to motivate his students. he gives pretty relatable analogies. He puts the real world into perspective. he helps his students understand the content rather than just pass. he always cuts to the point but is very inspiring.
I dropped FIN401 during winter term last year because of unsatisfactory grade with Prof T. As I needed it for graduation requirements, I took my chance during this summer at Chang school and it paid off greatly. Sam covers most of the materials yet his examinations were relatively much easier. Should you be taking it for req, do it with this guy!
The course itself is not hard. The textbook and the Power Point slides collectively have everything you need for the course. Not much is added during the lecture. Though he does clarify some concepts during lectures, there are times where there's a question that he will reply he will need to check and never get back to you. Fair professor overall.
This joke of a prof took 1.5 hours going through one section of the COURSE OUTLINE on our first lecture. The next 30 mins was him giving us a lecture as to why we should stay in school. The last hour he rushed 2 chapters and we learned nothing. true story. Knowing that he gets paid to teach really bothers me. STAY AWAY.
if you ask him questions, he'll just tell you to read the textbook. the final exam was brutal. stay away if you care about your gpa
This guy get paid to do nothing. he has a course shell set up that he uses over and over. if you need help, he won't take questions - you have to direct your questions and get help from the lyryx staff for material. He is stern and completely useless. worst prof i have the displeasure of meeting. He will murder your excellent gpa guaranteed!
