Horrible prof. Don't take him if you want a good mark. He is an extremely tough grader and that's coming from someone who got one of the highest grade in the class, I know this because he makes everyone's grades available to see on every essay and assignment. His lectures are just him in his dark library talking and his emails are extremely vague.
Super hard marker, and the class is impossible to do well in. The class is ridiculous, and you learn about nothing important.
Nice Person, but a very tough grader, and a very long winded person.
tough grader, did not value our opinions if they were not agreeing with him
Did not provide any tools to help you succeed, would leave negative comments on your assignments without any guidance. Decent professor if you're a philosophy major, few students overall did well. Seems to ramble a lot and when emailed, he would say something along the lines of "read it again". 6/42 students got an A- or higher.
Basically learnt nothing from this guy. All his online lectures are separated into 5+ video files that you need to download and open with VLC media player. He's in a dark room with his cat speaking slowly and teaching philosophy in a super boring and BIASED way. A lot of the readings were super depressing and there was no clear grading criteria.
If you want to do well in this course, you have to go to class and attentively listen and take notes. Make sure you do the homework he assigns and compare when he goes over it in class. I enjoyed his class, although it did take alot of time and energy for the course. He is funny and engaging.
Many students think an easy, flaky professor = a good professor. Untrue. Prof Stamos values integrity with his style of teaching and grading. I was initially disappointed to see lower than usual grades, but effort and attention yielded results.Take his classes if you have a genuine interest in philosophy, and you want to be intellectually pushed.
Bro had his cat in the lecture videos so I really wanted to like him, but he's unfair with his marking and criticisms. I did well enough but he is so needlessly picky especially about subjective things, even if you write well and cite your arguments, if you say something he doesn't personally agree with you're gonna lose marks. Also just rude.
I highly recommend to NOT take this professor. It seems that if your values or ideas relating to philosophy do not match up to his, you'll be automatically punished.
